A Legacy of Service to Youth

Women's Alliance Inc. supports, motivates and empowers youth to realize their highest potential. We sponsor activities and provide financial resources to enhance cultural awareness, champion academic achievement and promote the social development of young people.

Our Legacy of Service to Youth

1966

  • Founded as a community service organization. Our first contribution to the community included an American flag presented to the Boy Scout Troop in Cincinnati’s West End.

1970s

  • Started fundraising efforts with the presentation of Ride a Black Horse at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. Following the success of this show, we created several additional fundraisers at the Taft Theater and the Corbett Theatre.
  • Began providing financial assistance to UNCF, the Walnut Hills YMCA, University of Cincinnati students and several high schools and elementary schools throughout Cincinnati.
  • Sponsored Julian Bond’s visit to Stouffer’s, a charity ball at Corbett Towers and presented the Thomas Shaw Art Show.
  • Sponsored Maynard Jackson at the Hall of Mirrors fundraising event, as well as a Charity Ball/Champagne Breakfast at the Netherland Hotel.
  • Sponsored Maya Angelou at the Contemporary Arts Center, as well as a trip for SCPA students to Europe.

The 1980s

  • Partnered with Central State University to fund student scholarships.
  • Created a Signature Event, the Gift Giving Gala, that encouraged attendees to donated wrapped gifts for students in Cincinnati Public Schools.

The 1990s

  • Sponsored the Boys Choir of Harlem, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Susan Taylor and Iyanla Vanzant.

2000 and Beyond

We are continuing our mission of empowering youth through:
  • The Youth Empowerment Conference
  • Uniform support for students at Withrow High School
  • Hats Galore fundraising event
  • $10,000 in scholarships given annually to local students
